OK if the design will be seen soon after mold is pressed
I purchased the molds for my kids bento lunches that I send to school. Some quail eggs are larger than others so I recommend picking out the small to medium sized eggs. If you pick larger eggs, you will squish your eggs out the sides when you close the mold.
I used my still hot eggs to press in the molds and placed them in iced water to cool off and set the design. After 8-10 minutes in the iced water, the design didn't stay on for more than an hour. Then I had read that other people left the eggs in the molds over night in the fridge. I left my eggs over night and the next day, I took them out and placed them in the kids lunches. Since I prep my kids lunches for the week, I took out all the eggs and put them in the bento boxes. The next day, the designs on the eggs were gone.
I would recommend taking out the eggs out of the mold right before you send them off for that day's lunch.
